With just three people behind Mae Threads, every interaction you have with our brand is a direct connection to us. Owner Nikki keeps all the plates spinning, her husband Brennon manages the technical details, and her longtime friend Bella assists on the creative side. Together, they make Mae Threads a boutique where every customer’s opinion matters.
Nikki: Owner and Heart of Mae Threads
With sketchbooks filled with illustrations for the children’s books she plans to write someday, Nikki is an artist at heart. As a mom of two, she balances her creative ambitions with parenting, homeschooling her three-year-old, and also working full-time at her day job. She taught elementary school for four years and now enjoys running Mae Threads, where she curates clothing pieces, manages Instagram, tracks polling results, chats with customers, and prepares packages.
When it comes to her personal style, Nikki describes herself as a “minimalist maven” with a love for simplicity, polish, and femininity. Her current favorite piece in the store is the Ashalia Lounge Set because “it’s both cute and comfy,” she says. “The only thing it’s missing is pockets.”
Nikki is loving the natural and sage tones that are trending right now. However, she’s not a fan of the extra-wide-leg jeans that are back in style, though she admits they are at least comfortable! If she had to choose just one outfit to wear for the rest of her life, it would be a lightweight lounge set that can easily be dressed up or down.
Fun fact: Nikki and Brennon are both constantly listening to audiobooks and sometimes compete to see who can finish more books in a year. Speaking of Brennon…
Brennon: Technical Director
From chef to graphic designer to project manager, Brennon has enjoyed a career filled with fast-paced roles and creative endeavors. He enjoys listening to and playing music, trying new recipes on the smoker, and making up new games to play with his daughters.
His role at Mae Threads focuses on the technical side, including running the website and managing the nuts and bolts of social media. Brennon’s personal style can be summed up in his near-daily choice of button-ups, slacks, and stylish socks. He enjoys when he and Nikki get to dress up for a fancy party or wedding.
Brennon's favorite Mae item on Nikki?
“The Floral Overall Dress in Cream. She looks great in that color and she is comfortable and confident, which is very attractive,” he says.
Bella: Content Creator and Curator
Bella is a mom of three with a background in writing, editing, and marketing. She loves fashion, but it has never come easily to her, so she’s spent the last couple of years figuring out principles that make stylish dressing simple. When she’s not entertaining her babies, you can find her diving into feel-good novels, playing the piano, and solving crosswords.
She describes her personal style as “relaxed retro,” a balance of softness, femininity, and practicality. Currently, her favorite piece in the store is the Kimmy Top.
“I love anything you could call an ‘elevated basic’,” she says. “Tops like the Kimmy are perfect for throwing together an outfit in the morning because they work with everything!”
As for trends, Bella is loving ankle boots with chunky heels, but she’s still on the fence about barrel jeans. Extra fabric has its place, but why the mid-leg?!
If she could only wear one outfit for the rest of her life, she’d choose comfortable cropped trousers paired with a button-down peasant blouse and low-profile sneakers.
Fun fact: Bella grew up in Australia!
